The “gold standard” of accurate cancer diagnosis.
Detects tumors at the earliest stages — when other methods (MRI, CT, and ultrasound) are powerless. Fast. Painless. No hospitalization.
Two technologies in one study — for maximum diagnostic accuracy.
PET-CT Medical Center in Almaty
PET-CT (positron emission tomography combined with computed tomography) is a diagnostic method that unites two powerful technologies:
PET (positron emission tomography): studies cellular metabolism, helping to detect tumors even at early stages, invisible to conventional imaging methods.
CT (computed tomography): provides clear anatomical images, allowing precise determination of tumor location and size.

Experience – 12 years.
Orhun Medical operates three modern PET/CT scanners in Almaty, Aktau, and Kyzylorda. Today, we conduct more than 50% of all PET/CT examinations in the country, thus raising cancer diagnostics and treatment in Kazakhstan to a qualitatively new level.
(01)
Early tumor detection
PET/CT makes it possible to detect tumors before symptoms appear — at a time when treatment is most effective.
(02)
Assessment of tumor activity
PET/CT helps distinguish malignant from benign tumors and assess how actively the disease is progressing.
(03)
Accurate assessment of disease spread
PET-CT allows precise staging of the disease, detecting even the smallest metastases — less than 1 cm. This plays a crucial role in selecting the optimal treatment strategy.
(04)
Avoidance of unnecessary surgeries
PET/CT determines: if the tumor is no longer active or has been destroyed, surgical intervention may be unnecessary.
(05)
Evaluation of treatment effectiveness
PET-CT shows how the tumor responds to treatment. The method reveals changes earlier than conventional scans, helping to adjust therapy in time.
PET-CT diagnostics under expert supervision.
The PET/CT team at Orhun Medical works under the supervision of radiologist Dr. Zhandos Amankulov, who received advanced training at Stanford University (USA). The center’s specialists have high expertise in molecular imaging and accurately interpret even the most complex clinical cases.

Preparation for PET-CT
PET-CT diagnostics are based on the analysis of cellular metabolism, which may be influenced by various factors. To ensure accurate results, a number of preparatory steps must be followed:
2 days before the procedure:
Exclude alcohol.
Limit carbohydrate-rich foods, including all products containing glucose, fructose, lactose, and complex carbohydrates (sweets, cereals, pastries, milk, sugary drinks).
Disc with results of prior examinations (if available).
6 hours before the scan:
Stop eating.
The scan is performed on an empty stomach.
2 days before PET/CT:
Avoid hypothermia.
Limit physical exertion, as cold and intensive movement may affect tissue metabolism.
Recommendations for clothing and footwear for the examination:
Bring warm, comfortable clothing without metal elements (zippers, buttons, etc.).
Shoes should be changeable and comfortable.
Clothing should not be tight-fitting or restrictive.
Important information to report and provide before the examination:
Bring data from previous examinations and specialist reports related to your condition.
Patients with diabetes must consult an endocrinologist before the procedure, as high blood sugar may reduce result accuracy.
Pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Drug allergies.
Inability to remain still for 30 minutes.
